Software that I use for Communication
I am “old-school” and still prefer encrypted email along with the GNU Privacy Guard at first place. My public OpenPGP keys are available for download from this page. See OpenPGP for more details.
The GNU Privacy Guard is a complete implementation of the OpenPGP standard. It is used to encrypt and sign data and communication. [...] — GNU Guix Package Description for GnuPG
As a second option, I am trying Gajim and Dino Jabber/XMPP clients during coffee breaks. With Dino, voice chat is possible but sometimes fails to get established.
Gajim aims to be an easy to use and fully-featured XMPP chat client. It is extensible via plugins, supports end-to-end encryption (OMEMO and OpenPGP) and available in 29 languages. — GNU Guix Package Description for Gajim
Dino is a chat client for the desktop. It focuses on providing a minimal yet reliable Jabber/XMPP experience and having encryption enabled by default. — GNU Guix Package Description for Dino
And last but not least, post cards and paper letters are welcomed very well! See Imprint for address details.
I used to use uTox and Jami peer-to-peer communication tools, but chats are hard to maintain when you are on travel, in a camper, and dependent on public WiFi. Accounts still exist, though.
